‘Heavenwards’ download FREE NOW!!

Hey Everyone!

A few months back we recorded some of our new stuff and have decided to give one song away for FREE! With so much new material we are seeking God’s guidance on how/when/where to get some proper studio recording started! In the meantime we hope you enjoy our efforts in this free download- if you like what you hear please check out a very special gig we have coming up in The Market Place Theatre in Armagh…

The insert from the theatre

Since it’s formation in 2006, ‘The Mark Ferguson Band’ has been attracting much interest both locally and internationally. The band members have a deep Christian faith which is clearly evident in the songs, many of which are used in the setting of worship. The band’s style varies from heavy rock to a more sensitive and intimate acoustic feel. The recent release of their debut EP has been met with great interest and enthusiasm. In their first appearance at The Market Place Theatre, the band will perform a mixture of their own songs, many of which will give audiences the opportunity to sing along, whilst others will involve the bands up-to-date use of visual media.’

Tickets are now officially on sale and can be purchased through the theatre box office (band members can also be contacted for tickets) :

Wow what a week!

Just a wee update from me to fill you in on our crazy week.

So Tuesday was Moira Baptist which we were playing an acoustic set for which is really just Guitar, Bass and Djembie (with the occasional shaker and glockenspiel), oh and the insanely beautiful vocal chords of one Laura Andrews! It was a great night and Big Street where awesome!

We had the always mad experience of playing at a fundraiser with Johnny Parks and his crazy band which is always a pleasure! It was to raise money for Paul (bassist and all round mr nice guy) to lead a group to Romania over the summer! Except for a few wee technical difficulties with the fact that a freak thunder storm left us without electricity in sound check for 10 minutes it went well. As per usual JP Band where wonderfully brilliant!

To finish off a mad weekend Resonate was last night, which in case you dont know about you really need to check out – http://www.resonatelive.co.uk. So it had to be one of the craziest nights ever!!! EVER!!! God was there and his presence was tangible!!  It was just unbelievable and its hard to find words to describe it but i guess thats God for you! It was a fusion of lights, sound, Oh happy day, African Harmonies, Sharon Hamill (we like her), testimony, worship, freedom, dance, Hosanna in the highest, jumping, praising, crying out, shouting!!! The list is endless and at the centre, a God who is Alpha and Omega, Beginning and End, First and Last! Thank You God!!

An Automatic Response

Ah go on….read this:

One of those little verses you read and never see the real significance of just hit me the other day. Matt 28 v 17, ‘When they saw him, they worshipped him…’ This is after Jesus has been killed, the disciples have fled in confusion and everything seems to have been lost! There are more questions than answers.

The 11 (minus Judas) who travelled the long journey to the mountain in Galilee where Jesus had said he would be had seen Jesus hundreds of times. What was it on this occasion that was so different that, ‘when they saw him, they worshipped him’?

The disciples had made claims of undying devotion before, told Jesus how they believed he was the Messiah but having seen him die, they still didn’t really get it. In fact verse 17 finishes with, ‘..but some doubted.’ What was so different in seeinghim this time?

I believe the difference was that this time when they saw Jesus, in his risen state, the penny dropped, everything became clear and they KNEW who he was. This time in seeing Jesus they knew what they just had to do, the response became automatic, ‘when they saw him, they worshipped him.’ I wonder what that first worship time was really like! Up a mountain with a handful of people in the open air, no sound system, no pews, no order of service, just an automatic response of worship to who Jesus really is!

How many times have we been disappointed with numbers, worried whether we should sing 4 hymns rather than 3 or perhaps not sure whether we should sing at all?

I want that experience of the first worship time more than anything! I want Jesus to reveal himself to me so clearly that I know what to do! I want to see Jesus and to automatically know that my correct response is simply worship.

Mark.

P.S. Check out our upcoming gigs on the website, and stay tuned for some exciting announcements in the next few weeks!
